The Demonata Lord Loss Darren Shan Books

To properly rate this book-- 4.5 stars-- you have to take the elements into play that were used: emotions, imagery, plot twists and how well they played into the story overall, and realism tainted with fantasy.

Darren gave the reader a lot to think about when reading this book, and I must say that there was quite a bit. From beginning to end, there was no dull or unnecessary page that didn't paint some picture in my head, from the events that unfolded to the people and places themselves. It was well written to make you emerge into the world of "The Demon at a #1: Lord Loss" and see from a 1st person view of the protagonist as they made their way through the book; not missing an important detail that would leave one breathless and on the edge of their seat.

This book was a lovely trip that one could say had "so much imagery and felt far too real." Darren included necessary amounts of visionary properties that didn't tell too much or too little of what was currently present (i.e. every detail of any given thing/person or left out important information). What was told in this adventure served purpose to the conclusion.

I was left on a beautiful ride that I kept me wanting more from this title and I was given everything and more.

The reason for the 4.5 rating is because there is a syntax error that separates a sentence in a place that makes 2 incomplete and awkward sentences.

The Demonata Lord Loss Darren Shan Books Reviews

First book in the Demonata series.

Grubitsch "Grubbs" Grady goes to live with his Uncle Dervish in a creepy old mansion after his parents and sister are torn to shreds by an evil demon named Lord Loss and his familiars, Vein and Artery. Grubbs witnesses the gory scene, but escapes by tapping into a magical ability he never knew he possessed. Once in his uncle's house, Grubbs learns more than he ever wanted to know about the Grady family curse, which involves werewolves, demons, and chess.
I chose this rating because I haven't read a scary story like this since I was young but I like how the story played out in this book, I ordered Book II and It should be on its way. The story in this book gives you that feeling of watching the movie called Hell Raiser, you keep thinking what's going to happen next? are the things following him? and the story catches on pretty quick so I suggest that if you buy this book you should accompany it with book II as well, trust me you wont be disappointed.
Very intriguing story, does not write "down" to his audience even though it is classified as "young adult" fiction.
Graphic and very much based in horror, perfect for those who like demons and no holds barred horror.
Darren Shan is an outstanding writer. First the 12 Cirque Du Freak books and now Lord Loss. Shan's interpretation of other dimensions and evil like the Demonata that exist in those dimensions leave the reader spellbound.

This book begins with a normal brother and sister relationship with cruel revenge because the sister rats on the brother, so he RATS on her so to speak.

I won't give anything away, but after a tragedy, Grubbs finds himself grief-stricken and alone, and that is only the beginning. Grubbs is introduced to a whole new existence and a family genealogy and curse that he could never imagine.

Will Grubbs have to face the Demonata, will his new friend and Uncle Dervish be able to break their family curse in a battle of humans versus demons and their familiars, or will Grubbs former grief be too much for him to overcome?

Read The Demonata Lord Loss and enter Darren Shan's never-ending world of intrigue with his own ideas of topics that have been told and retold, but nothing compares to Darren Shan. He took vampires to a different level, and now...The Demonata Lord Loss...LOOK OUT!!!
I couldn't put this book down. I ended up reading it cover to cover in one sitting! I can't wait for some free time later in the week to buy and devour the second book in the series!
Alright! For starts, the cover of this book instantly pulled me in... I am originally a great fan of Darren Shan's previous work, Cirque Du Freak, and thought I would give this series a try. The writing is absolutely spectacular and the plot pulls you in from the start. I believe the plot, itself, is original and I always give props to authors who can do this. There are lots of twists at every turn and throughout the entire book, you are at the edge of your seat with each new situation being introduced. The writing is smooth and you are given a front row seat to the main character's, Grubbs, world. The villain, Lord Loss, is very unique (and I do not use that term lightly) and keeps you wondering, which just makes him even cooler and more fascinating! I am absolutely hooked and I am already on the 4th book! )
The first time I tried this book I was disgusted over the death of Grubbs' family. It's gory. I just wasn't in the mood for a book like this. I've now read the book entirely and was impressed. I love the Cirque du Freak series and wasn't sure what to expect with this.

Grubbs is a typical teenager, cocky and witty. Deverish is a great uncle. I liked him the minute they arrived home. Bill-E, however, I haven't decided if I really like him. His part is necessary, but he's kind of annoying.

After Grubbs' family death I could see no reason why it happened. What are they hiding from Grubbs? Who's this Lord Loss? Then the mysterious uncle shows up and knows about the demons he saw. I'm still, at this point, wondering what is the fascination with chess in this story. Why where the chess sets in his house all destroyed.

I was totally shocked to discover werewolves along with the demons. The chess idea is classic. I enjoyed this book; I will read the rest of series. This is one of a kind. I can't help thinking the type of story it is reminded me much of the Oz Chronicles by Ridley (The Takers (Oz Chronicles, Book 1)). They both have the same kind of feeling to them, different than the norm, both dark, and both serious page turners.
